The Sunday School is the spiritual center of Keshet and is open to anyone from the age of three through adulthood. Art projects, stories, cooking, and song help students of all ages experience the rich customs, flavors, and sounds of Jewish life. With the help of Keshet's professional staff and over a hundred selfless and highly motivated volunteers from local high schools, this weekly program is typical of our commitment to involve Keshet participants in the Jewish community.
The Sunday School curriculum covers Jewish holidays, Hebrew language, customs and practices. The Keshet Sunday School provides a Judaic curriculum adapted so each student can understand and participate. Advanced curriculum includes instruction in Hebrew language and reading, Jewish history and philosophy, and the weekly Torah portion. Sunday School classes are staffed by certified special educators and an active volunteer program provides for a staff-to-student ratio of 1:1. This enables all students to participate in Sunday School activities to the best of their abilities. Every Sunday School session ends with a joyful and moving celebration of song.
Keshet's Bar and Bat Mitzvah tutoring program gives children and their families - who would otherwise may never have this opportunity - the personal triumph of celebrating this special ceremony. Keshet staff work closely with the family's congregation to facilitate a meaningful ceremony filled with pride and accomplishment.
